Affiliate disclosure

In one sentence: Shed & Bask earns a commission when you buy something through a link on this site, and that commission does not change what we recommend.

The Amazon Associates statement

Shed & Bask is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Amazon is currently the only retailer we earn from. Where we link to a manufacturer page - Arcadia, Zoo Med, Zen Habitats - it is to cite their technical documentation, and we earn nothing from those links. We say so on the page when that is the case.

What it costs you

Nothing. The commission is paid by the retailer out of the sale, and the price you pay is the same price you would pay going to Amazon directly. If you would rather not use our links, searching for the product name on Amazon yourself reaches exactly the same listing.

How commission relates to what we recommend

It does not. Three specifics, because a general assurance is worth very little:

  • No brand can pay for a position. We accept no payment for placement, no sponsored posts and no paid reviews. A product appears in a roundup because it cleared the published criteria.
  • Rank order is set by criteria, not by commission. Every product we link is an Amazon link, so there is no commission differential to chase - and the rule would hold regardless. Where a cheaper product is the better buy, it ranks higher.
  • We recommend against products we link to. Every pick carries a who-should-look-elsewhere line, and several pages name popular products as things to avoid. A site that cannot say no is not giving you a recommendation.

Why there are no prices on this site

This is unusual enough to explain. Shed & Bask quotes no prices - not in body copy, not in comparison tables, not in meta descriptions, not in structured data. Every buy button reads "Check price on Amazon" and resolves the current figure at the retailer.

The reason is that a price written weeks ago is worse than no price. It looks authoritative while being wrong, it makes a comparison table silently misleading, and it is the single easiest way for an affiliate site to be useless at exactly the moment a reader is deciding. If you see a number anywhere on this site that looks like a price, it is a mistake and we would like to hear about it.

How the links work

Outbound product links pass through a redirect on this domain - /go/amazon - before reaching the retailer. That exists so clicks can be counted and so a destination can be updated in one place rather than across hundreds of pages. It is a plain redirect: no tracking script runs on your browser, nothing is stored on your device by us, and the redirect path is excluded from search engines.

Our Amazon Associates tracking identifier is ml-shedbask-20, and it is appended to Amazon links so the retailer can attribute a purchase. Every earning link on this site is marked rel="sponsored nofollow", which is how search engines are told the link is commercial.

Amazon and the retailers themselves set cookies when you arrive on their site, under their own policies. Our privacy policy covers what happens on our side.

What else we do not do

  • No fabricated reviews or testimonials. We have no customer review data for this business, so there is no testimonials section anywhere on the site.
  • No product star ratings or review counts. We did not measure them, so they are not ours to publish. The criteria results you see on a roundup are our own editorial assessment against stated thresholds, and they are deliberately not presented as review ratings.
  • No invented urgency. No countdowns, no stock warnings, no limited-time framing.
  • No affiliate links in safety content where no product honestly fits. Some pages here carry no buy links at all, and that is a decision rather than an oversight.

Per-page disclosure

A short disclosure line appears above the first buy link on every commercial page, not only here. If you reach a product recommendation on this site, you will have been told before you reach it.
